UNCF STEM Scholars Camp

Time 2 Give in collaboration with MantisEDU and UNCF STEM brought an innovative tech camp to life at Clark Atlanta University. This unique collaboration introduced middle and high schoolers to the breadth of technology—from coding and animation to 3D design.

In a pioneering collaboration, Time 2 Give partnered with MantisEdu and UNCF STEM to host an extraordinary technology camp on the historical campus of Clark Atlanta University, providing middle and high school students from the Atlanta Public School System an immersive tech experience. This innovative camp, made possible through strategic partnerships, allowed students to delve into various technological fields, from coding and animation to 3D design, under the guidance of esteemed professionals.

The camp offered students an unparalleled deep dive into the world of technology, covering an array of disciplines from coding and animation to 3D design. Nestled within the inspiring environment of Clark Atlanta University, the program was designed to weave technology seamlessly into everyday scenarios, offering practical, impactful solutions.

Participants were equipped with the skills to craft detailed narratives of their camp experiences using HTML and CSS, leading to the creation of personal blogs that captured their journey through technology. The inclusion of tech professionals like Marquette Trishaun, CTO of MantisEdu; Dr. Khao Cates, CEO of Bridge Da Gap and Koolriculum; and Scott Haselman, Microsoft Partner Program Manager, among others, enriched the curriculum, providing real-world insights and hands-on learning opportunities.

Under the guidance of experts such as Steve Holmes, through virtual sessions, scholars delved into coding with Scratch, encountered sensor technology for data collection, and embraced 3D modeling and animation with Tinkercad, led by Thomas Clifton.

The camp’s agenda also highlighted the intersection of technology with various sectors, from medical 3D printing and sustainable home design using recycled materials to the future of agriculture with smart farming and aquaponics systems monitored via sensor technology.

This camp wasn’t just a series of workshops; it was a comprehensive educational journey that allowed students to see, firsthand, how data can be transformed into tangible solutions addressing real-world challenges. Time 2 Give, MantisEdu, and UNCF STEM, by bridging the gap between technology and education, have not only provided these students with a unique learning experience but have also sown the seeds for the next generation of tech-savvy leaders poised to navigate and shape a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
